Listen Carefully

Listen carefully to the instructions as they are read to you. You must also listen closely to what the interviewer is saying. If you don’t understand something or need an explanation, don’t hesitate to ask them to clarify.

Speak Clearly

When answering each question, make sure you speak clearly and loud enough for the microphone to pick up what you’re saying. You must give full and complete verbal answers. The microphone can’t pick up any visual cues or gestures.

Only Provide Enough Information to Answer The Question

Answer each question to the best of your ability, but avoid offering an abundance of information. Don’t elaborate or go into greater detail than is necessary. If the interviewer wants additional information, they will ask for it.

Be Completely Honest

Don’t rush with your answers and don’t guess. Be as honest as possible. If you can’t remember a specific detail or are simply unsure, state that as your answer.

Don’t violate lawyer/attorney privilege. The interviewer can ask you a variety of questions, but according to the law, they cannot ask any questions that would breach this confidentiality.

Even though giving a deposition can be frustrating at times, maintaining your composure is essential. Stay calm and collected. Avoid verbal outbursts and keep a neutral tone.
